This blog post is targeted to single people or perhaps people who were single for some months in the past.

How many of you have been bothered to no end with friends and family constantly asking you all these dead-end questions, and giving you useless tips?

  1. Are you still single?

Yes, I will be young forever… and maybe forever alone too while I’m at it.
  15. All the good guys (or girls) are taken
Thank you for all your support. That makes me feel all better.

My confession…

A lot of people, think it is a bit strange for me to support the German National Football team, rather than any other team which is much more popular over here in Malta; namely England and Italy. I do not know how many times I had to answer why I am a supporter of the German team….

Today, I will write it on my blog, and for a reason.
Today, it is his birthday.

Back in 2002, while I was watching one of the World Cups that I Fußball WM Deutschland - Südkoreaactually vividly remember, I have spotted this really amazing goalkeeper. He conceded only one goal in the course of the cup until the final, in which the German team lost against Brazil with the score of 2-0. I was impressed by his skills and precision, and this is when football made sense to me. This is when I chose my team. I am writing about the one and only… Oliver Kahn.

Today, he is 45 years old.

Among the honours and awards along the years:

  • He was voted the Best player and Goalkeeper during the 2002 World Cup which is in my opinion very well deserved.
  • He has also been given the title for the World Goalkeeper of the Year in 1999, 2001 and 2002.
  • Others worth mentioning are four consecutive years (1999, 2000, 2001, 2002) as UEFA Club Football Awards: Best Goal-keeper
  • Gaining third place in 2001 and 2002 in the Ballon d’Or.

In remembrance:

Boy Meets World / Girl Meets World: Have you watched them?

For those of you who have grew up watching Boy Meets World, or who like me watched it recently, I would love to suggest that you consider watching Girl Meets World. And I will tell you why.

Cory and Topanga are the parents of this girl that the series is about. It’s freaking fantastic to have them both on TV again. I loved them then, and I still adore them now. To me, they are one of my favourite couples, and it’s saying a lot, since I watch way too many series ;p

Boy-Meets-World-then-and-now

What is so great about Girl Meets World is that all the main characters from Boy Meets World guest appear in the new show… which makes it really exciting, nostalgic and emotional. It’s so awesome to see them again. The fact that they still manage to kick ass in their old character, is what makes this show so worth my time. Shawn Hunter especially, what a great lad he has grown up into!

For those of you who have no idea what I am talking about, have a look at Boy Meets World trailer (1990s), and afterwards Girl Meets World trailer (2014) below. You can see the same familiar faces in both shows; only more grown up of course!

“Quoth the raven – nevermore.”

“Quoth the raven – nevermore.”; These were the final words Joe Carroll uttered before he was executed by lethal injection.

Yet, another sad day for me, as I see yet another one of my favourite murderers die. And I will explain why I had a soft spot for this guy. Well, he’s British, he’s a lecturer, he’s a writer, a philogist and he quotes Edgar Alan Poe throughout all the series. On top he was a cult leader and had his own religion. Creepy, yet it required skill. The fact that he chose an English breakfast as his last meal further drew me in.

During Joe’s last encounter with Ryan in S3E10, I was almost sure that the latter would let him escape… Somehow. But this did not happen, and I struggled as much as Ryan not to shed a tear when Joe stopped breathing.

It is going to be an end of an era, and I do hope that Hardy will continuously have hallucinations and be haunted by Joe’s image; if this is the only way to see this mastermind in the next episodes and Seasons.

Nevermore in the world and yet evermore in Ryan’s mind. ❤

Siggiewi World War Shelters

So, I have been slightly quiet the last few days, but I guess I needed some me time, as I have been very busy with work. I have made two new friends over the weekend, which was great too.

On Sunday, the Siggiewi World War Shelters opened for the very first time. There were a lot of people so it was difficult to get a lot of pictures. But this will give you a brief idea. For those who have been to Siggiewi, these shelters are right under the main piazza, so they are pretty massive. I used to think that the ones in Qormi are quite big, but it’s nothing compared to these shelters; corridors upon corridors, with small rooms which the families themselves dug to have their own private space.

Great work done by the Siggiewi Local Council who opened this for the public.

Have you ever wondered why some people are more curious than others?

curiosity…Well, I did. So I researched the topic, to try and understand this phenomenon.

Being curious is much related to the exploratory behaviour of a person in his early life. Some of us are more interested in familiarity, others feel the need to be subjected to new experiences and the novelty of life. According to research the brain structure is different depending on how you were raised and whether one is more drawn towards novelty or towards familiarity.

As a trait, being curious make you more aware of the changes going on both inside you and around you. When something is of interest you are more often then not head over heels about it and explore it to the depth, and beyond when possible. Being curious works hand in hand with intelligence as when one is curious, one reads and learns. They are better at maintaining relationships, not just because they have more to talk about, but because they have an attitude of openness, passion and interest, which decreases the odds of becoming bored of each other.

When one stops being curious and showing interest in the things around him, then one can say that his way of thinking is polluted. This would affect a person’s creativity, problem solving skills as well as feeling disconnected from others. They would fear the unknown, getting to know new people and will be stuck in a world of their own. Not in the good kind of way; they will hold onto the past because that is familiar.

And till this day, I keep wondering, and thinking. Why was life so much slower when I was younger? Time does not go by faster now, but sure feels like it! I ask myself, how people can not be curious? Why some don’t question life after death? How can you believe that heaven exists, when there’s no proof? Although, that would be nice, and would give me comfort at night.
