One of my favourite views when in Valletta, is the below view of the Grand Harbour and the three cities. The area is full of history as is the whole of Malta’s capital city…

Have you ever wondered why some people are more curious than others?
…Well, I did. So I researched the topic, to try and understand this phenomenon.
Being curious is much related to the exploratory behaviour of a person in his early life. Some of us are more interested in familiarity, others feel the need to be subjected to new experiences and the novelty of life. According to research the brain structure is different depending on how you were raised and whether one is more drawn towards novelty or towards familiarity.
As a trait, being curious make you more aware of the changes going on both inside you and around you. When something is of interest you are more often then not head over heels about it and explore it to the depth, and beyond when possible. Being curious works hand in hand with intelligence as when one is curious, one reads and learns. They are better at maintaining relationships, not just because they have more to talk about, but because they have an attitude of openness, passion and interest, which decreases the odds of becoming bored of each other.
When one stops being curious and showing interest in the things around him, then one can say that his way of thinking is polluted. This would affect a person’s creativity, problem solving skills as well as feeling disconnected from others. They would fear the unknown, getting to know new people and will be stuck in a world of their own. Not in the good kind of way; they will hold onto the past because that is familiar.
And till this day, I keep wondering, and thinking. Why was life so much slower when I was younger? Time does not go by faster now, but sure feels like it! I ask myself, how people can not be curious? Why some don’t question life after death? How can you believe that heaven exists, when there’s no proof? Although, that would be nice, and would give me comfort at night.

What is on your mind? What are you curious about?
How to cook and eat a Swede
The other day, I came across the funniest article. Maybe not funny for most, but since I work with a lot of Swedish people, I thought it was hilarious. Apparently, there is a seasonal vegetable known by us Europeans as a Swede.
The introduction to this vegetable did crack me up:
So whenever you are mad at a Swedish person, you can tell them… ‘You are such a Swede!’ And most likely, they wouldn’t know you are calling them a turnip!

Dead or Alive.
Hell is just a feeling
Keeping you from reasoning.
Open up your eyes
Make a step, for your sake.
No more secrets and mysteries
No more fights and lies.
Open up your heart
Everything will heal.
Take away the dead black roses
The thorns and pains.
Open up your mind
Life is full of colours.

Tormented
I gave you my heart
You tore it apart.
You split it in two
because you, love you.

This is an old poem, but I thought I’d publish some of my work from time to time.
Summer in Cardiff
Cardiff is going to be the first holiday I will be planning for this year. I will be visiting end of June and currently I am trying to decide whether I should book a hotel or self catering accommodation. Usually I tend to choose the latter as I
like my privacy and have a kitchen, if I fancy to cook something myself one of the evenings. However it looks like it’s going to be quite hard to find what I want, as during the same time I am visiting, there’s a motorcross show, and as such some of the best self catering places are already booked. I have decided that if I have not decided my accommodation by end of the week, then I will be staying at Travelodge.
Obviously, I chose Cardiff for a couple of reasons:
1. I have not yet been to the south of Wales; I usually tend to visit the North (I’ve been to Chirk, Llandudno, Conwy and their surroundings so far)
2. Cardiff Castle
3. Doctor Who Experience and related fandom
4. Cardiff Bay Wetland Reserve
5. Mermaid Quay
6. Gothic architecture (St. John the Baptist Church, St. Mary’s Church St. Fagans)
7. Hopefully a ghost tour in the castle itself but the dates are not yet out for summer!!
Hi ho, hi ho! To the Hobbit house we go!
After watching the Hobbit movie twice at the cinema in a span of two weeks, my fascination with hobbit houses has come back to haunt me. It haunts me as it feels like I will never own one… It mesmerises me as it makes me think, and hope. Life can be so unpredictable at times.

During one of researches online about hobbit houses, I came across a story about a couple who were given a plot for free in Wales to build a hobbit inspired house. The couple have moved from this house a few years back and are now building a bigger house in West Wales. The original hobbit house, looks like it is now demolished or in the process to be demolished… Not because it was structurally built badly, but because they never got the permissions to build it. Shame really. I think it would have been a great local attraction!

In one of the interviews they had, they explained how the house only costed them £3,000. They mention that this is due to the fact that the house was mainly built with natural materials and scrapped items.
The house was built in 4 months, mostly consists of wood and is dug into a hillside.the roof was covered with a layer of earth, has grass on which helps blend the house into its surrounding.
The house is using sustainable material and energy throughout; lime plaster instead of cement, a fridge which remains cool due to ventilation coming from beneath the foundation and compost toilet. A wood burner was used to heat up the house.

I would actually love to get the opportunity to build and have such a lovely home. I do love cities, but I do love being in the country side, enjoying nature itself. Tell me the truth… can’t you imagine yourself sitting right here?

What lies inside,
is what matters
Or so they say…
Our beauty fades,
but who we are stays. Continue reading Thump, Thump
