Have you ever wondered why some people are more curious than others?

curiosity…Well, I did. So I researched the topic, to try and understand this phenomenon.

Being curious is much related to the exploratory behaviour of a person in his early life. Some of us are more interested in familiarity, others feel the need to be subjected to new experiences and the novelty of life. According to research the brain structure is different depending on how you were raised and whether one is more drawn towards novelty or towards familiarity.

As a trait, being curious make you more aware of the changes going on both inside you and around you. When something is of interest you are more often then not head over heels about it and explore it to the depth, and beyond when possible. Being curious works hand in hand with intelligence as when one is curious, one reads and learns. They are better at maintaining relationships, not just because they have more to talk about, but because they have an attitude of openness, passion and interest, which decreases the odds of becoming bored of each other.

When one stops being curious and showing interest in the things around him, then one can say that his way of thinking is polluted. This would affect a person’s creativity, problem solving skills as well as feeling disconnected from others. They would fear the unknown, getting to know new people and will be stuck in a world of their own. Not in the good kind of way; they will hold onto the past because that is familiar.

And till this day, I keep wondering, and thinking. Why was life so much slower when I was younger? Time does not go by faster now, but sure feels like it! I ask myself, how people can not be curious? Why some don’t question life after death? How can you believe that heaven exists, when there’s no proof? Although, that would be nice, and would give me comfort at night.

What is on your mind? What are you curious about?

Self-Control

Lately I have been discussing this with a number of people, and some people seem to be in awe with regards to my will power. I still have some more to go, but I think I am almost there, on most aself_control_posterspects.

Self-control is a form of restraining yourself. Like everything else, restraining yourself in an exagerated way is wrong. Stopping eating altogether is bad, hiding entirely your feelings and emotions is also bad. One needs to learn to say no, when it’s enough. One bar of chocolate a day, is good enough. Stop letting people treating you like crap, or taking advantage of you.

Controlling your own behaviour would help you in both your personal life as well as at work. When you discipline yourself, you can plan better and finish within your deadline. Self-control helps you focus on your life and goals. On your journey.

These are a few tips I have learned along the way:

1. Look at the big picture – What do you want to achieve? How are you going to get there?
2. Remember the basics – Take it one step at a time, you will get there.
3. Don’t procrastinate – Focus
4. Love yourself – Respect yourself and it doesn’t hurt to reward yourself from time to time too!
5. Be confident – This i where I still struggle.
6. Rest – Don’t over do it. Make sure you get a good night sleep, so you can work harder the next day!

Lazy and Smart

Most of us bluff and blurt out, that we are smart. And intelligent. But, I think we are all stupid. We are greedy, and we only want what we cannot have. And in the rare occasion where we get what we want, we’d want something better. We are never happy, we always want more, more and more.

We are smart, but what we really are in reality, is puppets on a string, or even worse – parrots. We learn by heart what we are taught, as long as we get good grades. This is how we impress ourselves. Not by knowing the reasons behind things, but by repeating what we were told.

When it comes to life, we are scared. Scared like a mouse is scared from a cat, scared like a little kid who has misbehaved. We complain that life’s unfair, we are barely ever positive. We get angry for the slightest of reasons. We appreciate nothing, until we lose it.
And yet, we pretend we are smart
good enough
intelligent beings

But all we do is spend our life on cyberspace, or sitting down watching TV…
we barely go out
enjoy life
talk
take initiatives
have hobbies

Because we are lazy.

Lazy and smart.

Late-Term Abortion

When I was young, around the innocent age of 12-13 while at school, during our compulsory subject of Religion, we were forced to watch a very detailed and bloody video of a woman during abortion. At such a tender age, I was horrified to watch this, and I think it was wrong for the school to make us see it and what happens to the baby. Continue reading Late-Term Abortion

Cashiers who can’t count

In Siggiewi, we do not have big supermarkets, so usually I drive to the place where I grew up for some serious grocery shopping.

After I chose my items, I went to the cash area to pay for my items. Continue reading Cashiers who can’t count

The Introduction; The most boring post of all

The thing I find hard the most is to try to define myself. To define yourself is like trying to bite your own teeth; Impossible. Who I am, and what I am today, will not reflect myself as a person tomorrow… Or yesterday.
